Writing your artist statement-   A must if you are submitting your work to juried shows, an Artist statement is the perfect definition of your “voice”. Take this workshop and explore the artist statement and write the perfect one for you!

 

Preparing your portfolio-  So you’ve decided you want to get your work “out there” and are interested in what steps to take next. In this workshop we discuss the portfolio and some benchmarks for having one that is strong.

 

Submitting your artwork to galleries-  The portfolio is done. The artist statement is written. Now I need to submit to galleries. No worries! In this workshop we’ll explore all that you should do to get yourself accepted and you show calendar booked. From the initial visit to the introductory letter and from rejection to acceptance, learn about the entire process from both sides, the artist and the gallery.

 

Marketing yourself as an artist-  Most artists are adept at the creative side of things and often not as strong at the marketing side of things. In this workshop we delve in to all the materials needed to get your name and your work out there.

 

Frame design for art shows-  Did you know that sometimes judges make decisions on awards based on the framing? We divulge some tested secrets to ensure you make the best choices when framing your pieces from now on. We’ll let you in on a big secret: Often it doesn’t have to be expensive to be right.

 

Photographing your artwork-  You have artwork and now you need to make a record of it for yourself and your portfolio. In this workshop we’ll tackle photographing your artwork in slides, film, and digital formats. You’ll be able to enter shows with confidence.

 

Preparing your own gallery show-  You’ve created the work and now it’s time to show it off. In this workshop we’ll discuss the ins and outs of a gallery show. From the venue to invitations and everything about the opening, we’ll take you from the submission letter to the reception.

 

Critique group-  Have you felt stuck with a painting you’re working on? In this monthly group delve into what makes a painting “work”. Facilitated by an instructor/ moderator, this critique group offers artists a chance to discuss their own and others’ work in order to strengthen the finished piece. A fabulous opportunity to meet new artists and improve and hone your talents.

 

Instruction by Kim Morin Weineck

 

Kim holds a degree in Fine Art from Mass College  of Art and has studied in England, France, and Egypt. With a lineage that includes artists and scientists in her family, Kim’s teaching style imparts a fusion of the formal elements of art and design with the scientific aspects of artist  materials. Her work is described as contemporary realism and is found in collections both here and abroad.

Ginny originated from Albuquerque, New Mexico. After completing her studies at Mass College of Art she  embarked on a decade long teaching career. Currently teaching in the Mansfield School system Ginny’s main focus is to help young students explore, dream, and discover.

Choose your medium: pencil, charcoal, pastel, watercolor, acrylic, or oil. Choose your subject.  Class format is individual instruction.  Class size is limited to 8 students.

 

Instruction by Edwina Caci

 

Edwina graduated from Hornsey School of Art in London. She has painted portraits for  Mayors in Quincy as well as the  Massachusetts District Court in Cambridge. Edwina has been instructing and mentoring  artists for over 30 yrs.

Class sizes are limited to 8 students, so register early. Advanced payment is required to hold seats and fees are non-refundable unless a class is cancelled. You may reserve a seat using a credit card. A minimum of 4 students is required for each class. No refund or make-ups for missed classes unless inclement weather or at instructors discretion. Learn and discover the magic and professional techniques for improving your photographic skills. This is a loose forum workshop.  Learn techniques for better portraiture and capturing a moment, principals of design and responding to a subject. Assignments in composition and some printing. Field trips weather permitting.

 

Instruction by Ed Malitsky

 

Ed began his career as a staff photographer for a national publishing house, from there moving into photojournalism and editorial work. He is affiliated with Getty/ Tony Stone.

 

“My subjects range from corporate CEO’s to the kids next door; from microorganisms to the Big Dig. But my primary focus is shooting people. It’s all about capturing moments on people’s faces, their body language, the stories they have to tell through visuals.”
