I am a figurative artist. My paintings depend more upon the exploration of color, depicting the model in an abstract manner, while focusing on the foundations of painting rather than realistic detail. I am greatly influenced by the Bay area figurative artists of the 1950’s such as David Park, Richard Diebenkorn, and Elmer Bischoff. My paintings mostly show the painting process and the balancing act between: the space and the figure, abstraction and representation, value and temperature of color; creating harmony of a painting, stripped to its bones. |
